Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

Who we are

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) is Greece’s largest university and a leading academic institution in southern Europe, hosting 12 faculties, 42 schools, 81,500 students, and 2,150 faculty members. The School of Medicine, with over 340 academic staff and 3,200 students, is a hub of excellence. Within it, the Lab of Medical Physics and Digital Innovation is the largest in the Medical School, renowned for its prolific research output and funding. Comprising 10 pioneering research groups, the Lab excels in assistive technologies, medical education, applied neuroscience, semantic web, affective computing, medical robotics, and brain-computer interfaces. With over 70 researchers, it fosters a dynamic, collaborative environment, supported by cutting-edge facilities like ThessAHALL, the first Greek Living Lab where co-creational activities with end-users take place for prototyping, validation and feedback collection, a Neuroscience Laboratory with MEG (magnetoencephalography), unique in Southeastern Europe, as well as high-density EEG (electroencephalography), and an immersive cube that introduces users to multisensory learning. Internationally recognized for research excellence, the Lab secures funding from diverse sources and drives innovation in health and education technologies, positioning AUTH as a leader in transformative, multidisciplinary research.

Our participation in the project

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), through the Lab of Medical Physics and Digital Innovation, is driven to participate in the AuditED project to revolutionize quality assurance in vocational education and training (VET) by developing an innovative online auditing tool for EQAVET and ISO 21001 compliance. Motivated by the need for standardized, inclusive, and sustainable auditing processes, AUTH leverages its expertise in information technology, system architecture, and medical education technology to design a user-friendly, adaptable digital platform. Our tasks include developing the tool’s technical infrastructure, ensuring seamless functionality, and integrating features that promote inclusivity and environmental sustainability. AUTH also supports dissemination efforts, utilizing its extensive academic and industry networks to promote the tool’s adoption across Europe and beyond. AUTH’s contributions enhance transparency, streamline auditing, and foster digital and green skills, aligning with EU priorities for innovation, inclusion, and digital transformation in VET.
